Favorable Final Round at Frys

by Randy Roberts

Michael scored another round at 3 under par on the final day at the Frys.com Open.  With the final round he moved up 12 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 35th.  He's now made the cut in 9 of his last 11 starts, a streak that began with his 4th place finish at the Traveler's Championship at the end of June.  He earned another $23,000 that will count towards his official money list standings, where he now stands at 116th.  There's two more tournaments left in the season, and if he can stay at 125th or better he will automatically earn a PGA Tour Card for next year and bypass the entire Q School process.

On tap this week is a cross-country flight to Georgia as the PGA Tour season finishes up in the south: Sea Island, Georgia this week and Disneyworld, FL the next.

Living in Northern California, I don't get too many opportunities to say Roll Tide. I first caught sight on Michael in round 2 on 15. The "A" on the golf bag immediately caught my eye, and I said to my husband, "I wonder if he went to Alabama?". So we followed his threesome down the fairway, and there was Big Al in the bag! Immediately, I had a new favorite golfer. :) On Saturday, we saw Michael on 13 and I gave him a Roll Tide and he gave me one back! I have always enjoyed watching up-and-coming golfers, and I look forward to following Michael's promising career. This website is great!
