Michael Thompson will be competing for the first time Thursday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational taking place at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida. The par 72 course has wider fairways than most, so the approach shots and putting will be emphasized. From what I've read, performance on the par 5 holes is another key that is often mentioned. Michael's ability to make putts and do well on par 5's this year (he's ranked #4 on par 5 performance) will be an asset this week. He was also picked by PGATour.com's Rob Bolton as one of five "Sleeper Picks" saying:
"Michael Thompson - Fresh off a T16 at the Transitions Championship, his third top 20 of the year. Ranked T10 in greens hit at Copperhead and closed with a 4-under 67 that included just one bogey. Michael will be starting at hole #1 at 12:33 ET with Andrew Magee and Josh Teater.
