Arnold Palmer Invitational

by Randy Roberts

Michael Thompson will be competing for the first time Thursday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational taking place at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida.  The par 72 course has wider fairways than most, so the approach shots and putting will be emphasized. From what I've read, performance on the par 5 holes is another key that is often mentioned.  Michael's ability to make putts and do well on par 5's this year (he's ranked #4 on par 5 performance) will be an asset this week.   He was also picked by PGATour.com's Rob Bolton as one of five "Sleeper Picks" saying:
"Michael Thompson - Fresh off a T16 at the Transitions Championship, his third top 20 of the year. Ranked T10 in greens hit at Copperhead and closed with a 4-under 67 that included just one bogey. Getting his first look at Bay Hill where his greenside talent will come in handy. He's eighth on TOUR in sand saves and 24th in Strokes Gained-Putting." Rob Bolton - Sleeper Picks
Tee Time
Michael will be starting at hole #1 at 12:33 ET with Andrew Magee and Josh Teater.
